We need the right knowledge of sin according to the word of God because we can only receive the forgiveness of sins when we know about sin. Human beings sin so many times from the time we are born regardless of whether or not we want to. (Mark 7:21-23, Genesis 6:5) 

For human beings who are inherent sinners; for us to sin is as natural as an apple tree growing up, flowering and bearing apples with time. However, we must know that the wages of sin is death according to the law of God. (Roman 6:23) 

 If one recognises their true nature that is incapable of obeying Gods Word/Law and admits that they are deserving of the punishment of their sin, then they can be delivered from sin and God’s judgment, and receive all His spiritual blessings. 

 So what is most needed by a sinner is to know about sin and the result of it, and to learn the truth of the remission of sins, which God gave through the baptism, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (1John 5:6-8)
