If someone comes before God after realizing that they were born in sin, cannot keep God's law despite all their efforts to do so and admits that they are deserving the judgement of sins according to Law which is eternal hell; then such a person can be saved and receive the cleansing of all their lifelong sins by believing in the baptism Jesus received from John the Baptist to take on their sins and the blood He shed on the Cross to atone their sins once and for all. They thus become a born again sinless, child of God.
The Lord wants all of us human beings to come to Him like this, with this honnest heart and confessing spirit. The Lord wants us to receive mercy and salvation from Him instead of us desperatly trying to offer something to Him in return for salvation.
