Since we are fundamentally born as descendants of Adam, we do not have the ability to live a holy life like God. The human race, born with sins as the descendants of Adam, will live in this world and be judged and destroyed for their sins. So, God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into this world, and Jesus took upon our sins once and for all through the baptism He received by John the Baptist, bore the punishment of our sins, and has thereby saved us from them. In other words, through the baptism of His Son and His sacrifice on the Cross, God the Father received compensation for our sins. 

It is like vicarious satisfaction to the heart of God. God`s wrath against sin towards us was appeased through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who bore our sins through His baptism and received the judgement for our sins in our place. This is why God the Father saved every believer from their sins and judgement once and for all through His Son, who sacrificed Himself as our propitiation.
