Faith is all about looking toward God who did not judge us but instead loved us through Jesus Christ. 

By trusting in the works that Jesus fulfilled to grant us salvation; His baptism, death and resurection, we can be at one with our heavenly Father. ( 1John 5:6-8)
Religion, on the other hand is about making gods out of our own thoughts, trusting in our own will and and being convinced of our salvation though our "good" works.

We should always meditate on the fact that we were born as sinners who were destined for hell and we should then centre our hearts on the truth that Jesus received baptism from the High Priest John the baptist in order to recieve our sins onto His body as the sacrificial lamb of God. (Leviticus 16:21/Matthew 3:15)

We should always be greatful that Jesus bore the condemnation of death instead of us who deserve it according to the wages of sin. (Romans 6:23, John 19:30)

We should not trust in our righteousness which is like filthy rags but instead hold fast to the righteousness of God, confess it before men and thank Him always!
