The human heart is characterized by darkness. When the Bible says, “Darkness was on the face of the deep,” it means that everyone’s sins are lodged so deep in his heart that he himself does not realize this. It also means that human beings try to hide their sins in their lives. If one hides his sins and refuses to recognize his sinfulness, then he will continue to live imprisoned in darkness. And he will not be born again into someone who can please God. If one does not realize and admit just how weak and evil he is, then he won’t be able to recognize the God of mercy in the end, and fail to meet the God of salvation through the Word.
We must accept into our hearts that Jesus was baptized to take upon all our sins, that He shed His blood and died on the Cross, and that He rose from the dead again. If you really recognize with your hearts and accept what Jesus did for you, then the void in your hearts will surely disappear.
