The human conscience wants justice and fairness.
What we want from the Lord is a just process in which we can all see exactly how He fulfilled all righteousness by saving us from sin and hell.
By coming to this world in the flesh of a Man, He blotted out all our sins in like manner to how the sacrifices in the Old Testament bore the Israelites sins by first receiving the laying on of hands for the transference of their sins and then became the atoning sacrifice with the shedding of blood (Leviticus 1:1-9, 16:21).
Now in the New Testament, the Lord wants to reveal Himself to us as the just Lord who bore all your sins and mine once and for all justly and righteously by being baptized by the high priest and representative of mankind, John the Baptist, and saved us from our sins and judgment justly by being crucified for these sins and shedding His blood to death on the cross (Matt 3:15, John 1:29).
As a just Savior, Jesus does not insist on us rudely and arbitrarily to just believe blindly. He has provided the blueprint of salvation in the Old Testaments sacrificial system and fulfilled this pattern of redemption with His own baptism and bloodshed to once and for all, wash away the sin of the world.

“Search from the book of the Lord, and read:
Not one of these shall fail;
Not one shall lack her mate.
For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them.
